Through Special Olympics, athletes can train in numerous competitive & recreational sports, gain leadership skills, learn how to improve their health, and find a community. Wild West is your community’s local team and we are 100% volunteer run. If you are not a current Wild West athlete, email wildwest@somn.org for more information before registering. All athletes must have current paperwork with SOMN to participate. Be aware that registering does not guarantee a spot on the team. After registration ends, everyone will receive an email with details. Volunteers Needed! We are looking for VOLUNTEERS who want to make a difference! Ability to be at practices consistently No prior sport knowledge is necessary – we will train you. Requires a short online training about the basics of SOMN & background check. Coaching and non-coaching positions available Email wildwest@somn.org to learn more! Wild West Poly Hockey (Floor Hockey) Ages 8-AdultsAthletes must have safety awareness to participate. Players practice weekly on the basic skills needed to learn the game and improve their skills in traveling, passing, shooting & scoring. Athletes need to be able to wear a hockey helmet with a full facemask. The team has some gloves and helmets available to borrow. If athletes wish to purchase their own, please email wildwest@somn.org to get specific requirements. Most athletes participate in regional and state tournaments to show off their hard work!
