Young Athletes

Ages 2-7
A creative sports program designed for children both with and without intellectual disabilities. It introduces kids to basic sports skills in a fun, supportive environment while encouraging inclusion and teamwork. It’s a great way for young children to get involved in the Special Olympics community and build confidence through play. Special Olympics Minnesota Young Athletes is offered at no cost to the community. The registration fee helps support Community Education registration and use of the facility.

Volunteers Support!
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our Young Athletes program, including a lead volunteer to help guide each session. Volunteers help run activities, encourage participants, and create a welcoming, inclusive space. Free training is provided, along with a ready-to-use curriculum. Please contact Caitlin Volkmann at Waconia Community Education for details.
